Depart Fethiye for the pine-fringed coves of Skopea Limani and settle into the calm waters of Kapi Creek. Swim off the stern, hike to viewpoints above the bay, and enjoy a relaxed first evening at anchor.
A short, scenic hop brings you into Göcek, a lively harbor town and gateway to the ‘12 Islands.’ Spend the day exploring nearby bays, then enjoy a stroll along the promenade and a relaxed dinner ashore.
Sail south past piney headlands to Gemile Bay, a scenic anchorage facing Gemile (St. Nicholas) Island. Explore Byzantine church ruins, swim in clear water, and enjoy big-sky sunsets over the island.
Make a short coastal run to the dramatic amphitheater of Butterfly Valley. Anchor off the beach beneath 350m cliffs, go ashore to the waterfall, and soak up the wild setting.
Cruise around the headland to Ölüdeniz and admire the famous Blue Lagoon. Anchor outside the lagoon near Belcekız Beach, swim in clear water, and enjoy a seaside dinner with mountain views.
Head back toward Fethiye and anchor in the clear, turquoise waters of Aquarium Bay. Enjoy an unhurried day of swimming, snorkeling, and paddling in calm surroundings.
Return to Fethiye for a final night on the town. Visit the rock tombs above the city, wander the old quarter, and dine on fresh fish before disembarking.
Turkey 7-day sailing itinerary: from Merdivenli Koyu (Kapi Creek) to Fethiye
Cruise the sheltered coves and iconic bays of Turkey’s Turquoise Coast on a weeklong loop from Fethiye. This route threads the calm inlets of Skopea Limani around Göcek, the Byzantine ruins of Gemile (St. Nicholas) Island, the soaring cliffs of Butterfly Valley, and the famed Blue Lagoon at Ölüdeniz before returning via Aquarium Bay. Expect short daily passages, protected anchorages, clear water for snorkeling and paddleboarding, and rewarding hikes with big views.
Best between May and October, conditions are typically settled with predictable afternoon sea breezes. Distances are modest, leaving ample time for swimming stops, onshore exploring, and unhurried evenings at anchor. Fethiye and Göcek offer full-service marinas, provisioning, and repairs, while most bays en route are natural anchorages with limited facilities—plan accordingly.
Highlights include sunset hikes above Kapi Creek, island-hopping among the “12 Islands” near Göcek, exploring Byzantine churches on Gemile Island, stepping ashore beneath the cliffs of Butterfly Valley, and viewing the brilliant sandbar of Ölüdeniz. Practical tips and safety notes for each stop help you choose moorings, avoid common hazards, and make the most of every day.
