Yacht Charter Ionian Highlights
Lefkas and the inland sea
The canal, the pontoons and a first afternoon that can stay inside if the wind is up. Meganisi and Kastos are the next mornings, not a passage.
Corfu, Paxos and the north
Gouvia as the logistics base, then Paxos, Antipaxos and the mainland notches toward Parga. A slightly longer hop than the Lefkas circuit.
Paxos and Gaios
A town quay that rewards a well-handled stern-to and a night that feels like the Ionian people mean when they say the word.
West-coast Lefkas, when settled
Porto Katsiki and the west are a day sail in kind weather, not the default week. We will keep you east if the swell is up.
Gouvia and Corfu Town
The northern logistics base. Fuel, flights and a first hop toward Paxos that is longer than Lefkas but still a day sail.
Lefkas canal and the pontoons
Saturday traffic is real. A mid-size monohull and a crew who can handle lines makes the first afternoon calm.
Ionian Sailing Itinerary
A 7-day Lefkas loop
Lefkas to Meganisi, Ithaca, Kefalonia, Astakos and Kastos is the classic central Ionian week: short hops, town quays and an afternoon breeze that fills after lunch.
View Day-by-DayAn Ionian yacht charter is one of the most forgiving Greek weeks: short hops, green coasts and lighter winds than the Meltemi Aegean. Most fleets base at Corfu/Gouvia, Lefkas or Preveza. Compare start harbours in our Ionian charter bases guide.
Summer is warm and popular with first-time Mediterranean crews. Town quays in Paxos and the inland sea still fill early in August, so plan arrivals. Shoulder months often feel quieter without losing the scenery.
From bareboats to skippered catamarans and crewed yachts, we match you to the right platform across Corfu, Lefkas, Meganisi and the mainland coast.

Ionian Yacht Charter Types
In Ionian you can hire a monohull sailing yacht, a catamaran, or a motor yacht. Bareboat and skippered weeks are the usual products; crewed and by-the-cabin options appear on the busier coasts. Pick the boat type that matches the group, then we shortlist fleets that actually sit in that base.
Bareboat
- You skipper, we shortlist the right size and base
- ICC or Day Skipper checked before you pay a deposit
- Lower weekly cost than skippered or crewed
- Your route, your timetable
Skippered
- Local skipper for the Freus, canal or Meltemi week
- No licence required
- Stern-to and harbour work handled
- Learn the week without owning the risk
Catamaran
- Shade, space and a level platform
- Shallower draft for skinny calas and banks
- The usual family and group choice
- Two hulls, more cabin privacy
Crewed Luxury
- Captain, and usually a host or chef
- You choose the noise level and the nights in
- Meals, toys and formalities handled
- The week is a stay, not a campaign

Yacht Charter Ionian FAQs
Bareboat in Greece usually needs an ICC or equivalent plus VHF and recent experience. Skippered and crewed weeks do not require you to skipper. We confirm the operator's list before booking.
May to October is the main season. The Ionian is popular with first-timers; June and September often feel calmer for berths than peak August.
A mid-size monohull week often sits in the low-to-mid thousands of euros in shoulder season; peak weeks and catamarans cost more. Fuel, marina fees, cleaning and optional skipper are typically extra.
Yacht use for the week, standard inventory and contractual insurance. Fuel, overnight fees, food and optional crew are usually extras.
Most weeks start at Corfu/Gouvia, Lefkas or Preveza. See the Ionian charter bases page for harbour-by-harbour notes.
Bareboat suits crews with solid harbour skills who want an easier wind regime than the Cyclades. Skippered remains popular for families and first Mediterranean weeks.
Popular town quays (especially Paxos) fill early in peak weeks. The Lefkas canal and bridge timings also shape day-one logistics for canal-based boats.
Yes. Classic weeks run Corfu to Paxos and the mainland, or Lefkas through the inland sea toward Meganisi and Ithaca. Trying both northern and southern extremes every day usually means too much motoring.
