Yacht Charter French Riviera Highlights
Antibes and the east
The working east-coast fleet, a first hop toward Nice or a westbound start if you want Saint-Tropez later in the week.
Saint-Tropez, booked
The harbour people mean. Reserve it, arrive in daylight, and treat it as one night, not the week.
Porquerolles and Port-Cros
The island pair that still feels like a park. Sand, pines and a night that is quieter than the mainland wall.
Hyeres as the west start
Shorter hops to the islands and a first afternoon that can stay inside if the east wind is up.
The calanques, when settled
White rock and deep water west of Cassis. A day sail in kind weather, not the default week.
Nice as logistics
The airport and a useful first or last night. Most weeks should not start and finish on the same Nice quay.
French Riviera Sailing Itinerary
A 7-day Hyeres and Saint-Tropez loop
Port Pin Rolland to Porquerolles, Saint-Tropez, Bonporteau, Port-Cros and Embiez is the western Riviera week: national-park beaches, short hops and reserved quays you book before you leave.
View Day-by-DayA French Riviera yacht charter puts you on the Cote d'Azur between island hops, glamorous harbours and short scenic legs. Most fleets base at Antibes or Hyères, with Nice and Villefranche useful for east-coast weeks. Compare start harbours in our French Riviera charter bases guide.
Summer is busy and berths are expensive. Competent crews book popular harbours early and use quieter anchorages where rules allow. Shoulder months often feel easier for first Riviera weeks without losing the coastline.
From bareboats to skippered catamarans and fully crewed yachts, we match you to the right platform between the Iles d'Hyères and the Italian border approaches.

French Riviera Yacht Charter Types
In French Riviera you can hire a monohull sailing yacht, a catamaran, or a motor yacht. Bareboat and skippered weeks are the usual products; crewed and by-the-cabin options appear on the busier coasts. Pick the boat type that matches the group, then we shortlist fleets that actually sit in that base.
Bareboat
- You skipper, we shortlist the right size and base
- ICC or Day Skipper checked before you pay a deposit
- Lower weekly cost than skippered or crewed
- Your route, your timetable
Skippered
- Local skipper for reserved quays and the high-season dance
- No licence required
- Stern-to and harbour work handled
- Learn the week without owning the risk
Catamaran
- Shade, space and a level platform
- Shallower draft for skinny calas and banks
- The usual family and group choice
- Two hulls, more cabin privacy
Crewed Luxury
- Captain, and usually a host or chef
- You choose the noise level and the nights in
- Meals, toys and formalities handled
- The week is a stay, not a campaign

Yacht Charter French Riviera FAQs
Bareboat on the French coast usually needs an ICC or equivalent recognised by the operator, plus recent coastal experience. Skippered and crewed weeks do not require you to skipper. We confirm paperwork before booking.
May to October is the main season. June and September often balance warm water with slightly easier berthing than peak July and August.
Riviera weeks often cost more than comparable Aegean or Adriatic weeks. A mid-size monohull can sit in the mid thousands of euros before extras in shoulder season, with peak weeks and larger boats higher. Marina overnight fees are a real budget line.
Yacht use for the week, standard inventory and contractual insurance. Fuel, overnight marina fees, tourist taxes, food and optional crew are usually extras.
Most weeks start at Antibes or Hyères, with Nice/Villefranche for east-coast logistics. See the French Riviera charter bases page for harbour-by-harbour notes.
Bareboat suits experienced crews comfortable with busy, expensive harbours. Skippered is popular for celebrations and first Riviera weeks where local berthing knowledge saves time.
Berths are scarce and pricey in peak season. Book ahead, keep a flexible Plan B anchorage where permitted, and do not assume walk-up marina nights in July and August.
Yes. A classic week links Hyères and the Iles d'Hyères, or Antibes toward Cannes and the Lérins, without forcing Monaco every night. East-coast weeks from Nice or Villefranche work well with shorter hops.
