FAQs

Which Mexico marina should I depart from?

Isla Mujeres/Cancún for Caribbean weeks. La Paz for Sea of Cortez weeks. Pick the coast first, then the boat.

Do I need to book marina berths in advance?

Base nights are part of most turnarounds. Peak winter weeks benefit from planning popular stops early.

Can I sail from Cancún to La Paz?

Not in a charter week. They are on opposite coasts with separate fleets.

Is hurricane season a factor?

On the Caribbean side, yes from roughly June through November. Cortez planning is more about winter northerlies.

Is skippered charter common?

Yes, especially for first visits. Bareboat is available where operators accept your experience.
