Grand Baie
Primary north-coast start for lagoon catamaran weeks, with the densest charter activity.
Port Louis area
Capital-side option for some logistics and pickups. Less of a classic Saturday bareboat factory than Grand Baie.
Which base for which week
Choose Grand Baie for most lagoon charter weeks. Use the Port Louis area when your operator or hotel transfers make it the practical pickup.
Provisioning, fuel and check-in
Provision near Grand Baie for most weeks. Reef passes need local knowledge. Nearest airport: SSR International (MRU), then a road transfer north.

FAQs
Which Mauritius marina should I depart from?
Grand Baie is the usual charter start. Port Louis area pickups happen when the operator or hotel plan requires them.
Do I need to book marina berths in advance?
Most weeks stay in the lagoon with a mix of marina, mooring and anchorage nights. Confirm the operator plan.
Is bareboat widely available?
Skippered catamaran is more common. Bareboat is possible with the right tickets and a conservative lagoon plan.
Can I sail to Reunion in one week?
Usually no as a casual add-on. Treat Reunion as a separate product unless a one-way is explicitly offered.
What about cyclone season?
Wet-season weeks need extra weather caution. We will be honest if dates are a poor fit.
