Ionian charter base directory
Corfu / Gouvia Marina
Primary northern Ionian charter base with fuel, chandlery and airport transfers. The usual start for Corfu and Paxos weeks.
Lefkas / Lefkada canal bases
Common start for the inland sea. Trade a longer transfer for shorter hops toward Meganisi, Kalamos and Ithaca.
Preveza
Mainland gateway near the canal approaches. Useful when your operator bases here or you want a quieter first night before Lefkas.
Which base for which week
Choose Gouvia for CFU flights and northern Ionian scenery. Choose Lefkas or Preveza when your boat sits on the canal and the inland sea is the priority.
Provisioning, fuel and check-in
Airport to Gouvia is a short transfer. Supermarkets and fuel are easy at the main bases. Town-wall nights in Paxos need early arrival in peak weeks. Nearest airports: Corfu (CFU) north; Preveza/Aktion (PVK) for Lefkas-area starts.

Which Ionian marina should I depart from?
Gouvia for most Corfu weeks. Lefkas or Preveza when your operator bases on the canal and you want the inland sea first.
Do I need to book marina berths in advance?
In July and August, yes for popular harbours and Saturday changeovers. Shoulder season is more flexible mid-week.
Is the Ionian good for first-timers?
Yes: shorter hops and usually lighter winds than the Meltemi Aegean. You still need solid harbour skills in peak weeks.
Corfu or Lefkas?
Corfu if you fly into CFU and want Paxos. Lefkas if your boat is on the canal and Meganisi or Ithaca come first.
Do I need a marina every night?
No. The Ionian has plenty of sheltered bays. Use marinas for fuel, water and weather.
