Detailed day-by-day guide with insider tips, ratings, and everything you need to know.
Complete check-in, then make a gentle 3–4 nm passage to Koh Wai for a peaceful first night at anchor off the north-coast beaches.
A short sail south leads to the Koh Rang island group in the Marine Park, with white-sand beaches and excellent snorkeling. Arrive early or late to avoid day boats, and pay park fees if stepping ashore.
Head south-east to Koh Kut and settle into one of the sandy west-coast bays. Explore quiet roads, waterfalls, and long beaches with options to dine ashore at simple beachfront restaurants.
Reposition along Koh Kut’s west coast to sample another sandy bay. Mix light snorkeling with shore time and a relaxed evening at anchor.
Cruise back north to Koh Mak and anchor off Suan Yai Beach on the northwest coast. Enjoy a long curve of sand, gentle water, and flat lanes for walking or cycling through coconut and banana plantations.
Round to Ao Kao on Koh Mak’s southwest coast for a relaxed day of swimming, paddling, and a casual dinner ashore along the beach strip.
Sail back to Koh Chang for a final night at Ao Bang Bao. Anchor outside the stilted fishing village, browse the market for gifts, and enjoy a fresh seafood dinner on the pier.
Make the short morning run back for fueling and check-out. Dispose of waste, finalize paperwork, and enjoy a quick snack ashore before transfers.
Koh Chang: Thailand 1-Week Sailing Itinerary
Explore Thailand’s Koh Chang Archipelago on an easy 7-night route designed for short, scenic passages and maximum time in the water. Begin with check-in on Koh Chang and a gentle hop to Koh Wai’s simple, road-free beaches. Continue to Koh Rang’s protected Marine Park for pristine snorkeling and quiet overnights once day boats depart. Spend two unhurried days along Koh Kut’s west coast, where long beaches, jungle trails, and inland waterfalls reward shore excursions. Cruise back north to Koh Mak for Suan Yai’s sweeping bay and Ao Kao’s laid-back shoreline bars before returning to Koh Chang for a last-night seafood dinner at Bang Bao Pier and a short morning run back to the base. Expect clear water, sandy anchorages, and authentic local eateries ashore.
Why this route works: Distances are short, anchorages are generally sandy with good holding, and there’s excellent snorkeling in several stops. It’s ideal for families or crews prioritizing easy days over long passages. While the archipelago is navigable year-round, the November–April season typically brings the calmest seas and best underwater visibility. Note that the Marine Park around Koh Rang charges a fee for going ashore; landing areas are designated and reef protection is strictly enforced.
